visited an elephant rescue sanctuary where the elephants were saved from carrying evil tourists around Angkor Wat until one died from a heart attack. There are 11 elephants living in the sanctuary enjoying their retirement of bananas and sugar cans. It was well worth it to see such beautiful animals even though we had to travel over an hour on a bus where over half of the journey was on a dusty dirt road to the jungle. With near 100% humidity, we were drenched in a combination of sweat, deet, and sun screen lotion.
